of Belonging. Q10 is holistic approach to prioritizing and strengthening EQUITY in Education. This fusion of 10 different theories, frameworks and practices are integrated to focus on enhancing educational equity. Each can stand alone, however, when they are integrated, they create a strong synergy that can go far beyond their individual potential and become an empowering, holistic approach to address systemic inequities.

2020 Proposals Submission Timeline

Please provide an in-depth description for the selection committee. This could be a written proposal or any type of multimedia (such as a single video or audio recording of 5 minutes maximum length, provided as a URL). Make sure to answer all questions.

Because you cannot save your response in the online proposal form, it would be beneficial to draft your responses prior to submitting your proposal. Below, you can find the criteria and quality expectations for your proposal.

Please provide a short, interest-grabbing description for attendees. You can submit this as a written statement (maximum 100 words) or as a short video teaser (maximum 30 seconds in an accessible format with captions).

 

Quality expectations:
Captivate readers or viewers with your description of an interesting Q10 strategy, idea, issue or problem in K12 or Higher Education. The abstract includes a clear explanation of the session.

Topic Description and Relevance

Please clearly describe the topic of your session, why it is relevant to Q10, how it contributes to current issues in the field, and how the topic is applicable to diverse populations. (Maximum 150 words or 1 minute)

 

Quality expectations:
The session owner clearly describes how the session topic relates to and contributes to the fusion of Q10 theories, frameworks and/or practices in K12 or Higher Education. The session owner also ensures that the topic is applicable to diverse populations.

SMART Objectives

Please provide Specific, Measurable, Attainable/Actionable, Results-based, Time-bound (SMART) objectives and connect how these objectives will transform practices of the Q10 elements (maximum 150 words or 1 minute).

Quality expectations:
The session owner clearly describes how participants can apply this session to their context, e.g. by influencing one or more of the following:

Knowledge – concepts, information, principles, theories, research
Aspirations – desire, motivation, internal drive
Skills – capacity to implement; know-how; procedural knowledge
Mindset – awareness of session topic in authentic situations

Session Format and Participant Engagement

Please justify how the proposed session format facilitates participant active engagement with the content, the session owner(s) and/or other participants (maximum 150 words or 1 minute).

 

Quality expectations:
The session owner clearly outlines the proposed session, with clear examples of activities, media or tools to be used. The session owner justifies how the proposed session format facilitates participant active engagement with the content, the session owner(s) and/or other participants. Session formats could include, amongst others:

Quality expectations:
The proposed session shows clear evidence of the application of Q10 theories, frameworks and/or practices. The description includes specific explanations of adaptations for a variety of learners (visual/hearing impaired, second language learners, international participants etc.).

Presenter Requirements:

 

  • Session owners must be available any time during the conference (December 8-10, 2020)

Tips:

 

  • Attendees have many programs to select from and often choose those that have well written descriptions
  • Attendees desire brief reviews of research that support the concepts presented
  • If written: Prepare your proposal in a word document, and use the grammar/spell check before copying and pasting into the online form
  • Save and print a copy of your submission for your reference and records

Grounds for Disqualification:

 

  • Do not submit the same proposal under different formats (i.e. submission as a 60-minute session and the same as a 30-minute poster session)
  • Do not use session owner(s) name(s) or identifying information, except under the contact information section(s) of the online form

How will my proposal be reviewed?

 

  • Proposals are blind reviewed
  • A committee of professional educators representing all levels of education will review proposals
  • Proposals will be evaluated based on the quality expectations published in the criterion table above
