What is the Q10?

The Quantum 10 (Q10) is a fusion of 10 different theories, frameworks and practices that together focus on enhancing educational equity. Each can stand alone, however, when they are integrated, they create a strong synergy that can go far beyond their individual potential and become an empowering, holistic approach to address systemic inequities in education.

Purpose

The purpose of this conference is to expand upon understanding of the Q10 framework, theories, and practices, and to Elevate Every Perspective: Building A New Table For All. This conference strives to transform practice by taking an action-oriented approach to intentionally integrate the elements of the Q10 framework. Your presentation should advance learners’/attendees knowledge of the elements of the framework to systematically sustain equity in our learning communities.

Who is encouraged to present?

This conference is open to anyone who is ready to get to the heart of learning. This conference strives to reach K-12/higher education educators, students, administrators, local/state leadership professionals, school board members, service providers, school counselors, accessibility officers, mental health workers, those involved in opportunity and continuation schools, family members, caregivers, and community members.

  • This strand emphasizes the fundamental role of engaging families and communities as valued partners in education. We believe building strong relationships and fostering meaningful collaboration between schools, families, and communities is essential for student success.
  • These strand sessions aim to explore strategies and best practices for creating inclusive and welcoming environments where all voices are heard and valued. We recognize the unique perspectives, experiences, and expertise that families and community members bring to the table, and we seek to harness these resources to enrich the educational experience for every student.
  • This strand centers around the collaborative efforts of educators, students, and partners to cultivate an environment that optimizes learning outcomes and promotes holistic well-being.
  • These strand sessions explore innovative approaches and strategies for co-creating engaging learning experiences that foster academic growth, social-emotional development, and overall student well-being.
  • This strand centers on the pivotal role of education in fostering social justice and equity while promoting student learning and empowerment.
  • These strand sessions delve into the critical intersection of education and social justice. We explore how educators can actively dismantle systemic barriers and cultivate inclusive learning environments where all students feel valued, respected, and empowered to succeed.
  • This strand focuses on the pivotal role of transformational adaptive leadership in driving meaningful change and innovation within educational environments.
  • These strand sessions explore how transformational adaptive leadership approaches can empower educators, administrators, and partners to navigate complex challenges, seize opportunities, and enact intentional solutions that drive positive outcomes for students and communities.

This strand will guide educators through the post-tour phase after participating in the Footsteps to Freedom Underground Railroad Study Tour. Educators who have completed the tour will delve into professional advancement opportunities, integrating Q10 and the Core Four into their practices while engaging in discussions to refine their leadership skills and address pertinent queries for further growth. answering the following question:

  • How might educators use learnings from Footsteps to Freedom best serve historically and traditionally marginalized populations?
  • What systems need to be disrupted in order to elevate every perspective and build a new table for all?
  • What barriers need to be broken to ensure Family and community engagement?
  • How might leaders and teachers incorporate what they took away from footsteps to ensure High-quality instruction?
  • How might leaders ensure the intentional integration of the Q10 elements to foster high-quality instruction, family and community engagement, and student-centered learning?

Submissions will be accepted in the form of written proposals or any multimedia (e.g. an audio or video recording provided as a URL).

Please provide a short, interest-grabbing description for attendees. This can be submitted as a written statement (100 words maximum) or as a short video teaser (30 seconds maximum; in accessible format with captions)

Topic Description and Relevance

Please clearly describe the topic of your session, why it is relevant to Q10, how it contributes to current issues in the field, and how the topic is applicable to diverse populations. (Maximum 150 words or 1 minute)

Application of Q10 in Session

Please explain how the Q10 framework, theories, and/or practices will be intentionally integrated and actively used in your session. (Maximum 150 words or 1 minute)

Relevance to ‘Elevating Every Perspective: Building A New Table For All"

    • All poster presenters will be in one room and present individually one after the other for a maximum of 10 minutes each

    • Presentation as a part of a larger panel with other presenters on a similar topic
  • Asynchronous video/audio presentation [+ asynchronous Q&A]
    • A pre-recorded video/audio presentation
  • Workshop (1-2 hour sessions)
    • Highly interactive session where participants will learn a pedagogical skill or strategy
  • Flipped classroom session (1-2 hour sessions)
    • Sessions where participants will be expected to engage with selected material before the session and then complete problem-based or project-based learning in the session
